Business support startup helped to grow by Inspiring Enterprise
Shaun Summers runs a self-care and wellness website – My Healthy Self – that empowers individuals to take care of their own physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. It incorporates informative articles on all aspects of self-care and reviews of related products. He was supported in making his idea into a business by Enterprise Specialist, Julie Stevenson of Inspiring Enterprise.
The Journey to Inspiring Enterprise
As a full-time carer for his mother for a period of 8 years, Shaun saw a growing need to look after his own well-being,
“Whilst caring for my mother was a very rewarding job, being a carer 24/7 was physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting. To cope, I realised how essential it was to adopt a variety of self-care strategies and practises to not only maintain my own well-being, but also to be in the best possible condition to care for my mother effectively. This, in part, was what led to the business idea I’m pursuing today.”
Launching the Website
At the time of writing, the website has only recently gone ‘live’. But he is now getting 70-80 visitors per day to it, two-thirds of which are new visitors. He’s delighted that each visitor is spending 1 hour to 1 ½ hours on the website when they view an average of 15-20 pages each time.
“Hopefully this means they are interested and engaged in the content and will subsequently convert to subscribers and buy products from the affiliate links. I’ve had a few sales already which shows that the hard work is starting to pay off.”
Shaun plans to develop My Healthy Self to a mature stage, then he’s hoping to develop other business ideas he has.

Shaun’s Top Tip for Future Entrepreneurs
“Enter a field and/or type of business which you are the most passionate about. Setting up and running a business is not always easy, and you will face setbacks, some of which will be significant. However, if you truly believe in and enjoy what you do, you will have a natural and strong determination to succeed, allowing you to ‘bounce’ back more easily when things go wrong or become difficult.”

WSX Enterprise Ltd is a business support organisation delivering a range of start-up, business growth and digital skills projects across the UK.
Their Inspiring Enterprise project ran from 2016 until 2023 in Hampshire and Surrey. Our team of experts advised, mentored and supported over 1000 people to find a better future by moving them into self-employment, employment or training.
The project is currently not taking any new enquiries and will finish in April 2023.
