About the speakers
Dr Erik Blakeley Energy Efficiency Technical Officer, Low Carbon Dorset
Dr Erik Blakeley studied Metallurgy at Birmingham University and went on to teach Physics at secondary school level. After taking an MSc in Archaeometallurgy at UCL he had a career in museums including the National Coal Mining Museum for England near Wakefield.
A growing interest in Climate Change and Renewable Energy led him to take a second MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Engineering at Loughborough University. From there he secured a job as a technical officer with the Severn Wye Energy Agency delivering an EU-funded renewable energy and energy efficiency advice and grant programme in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. He moved from there to take up his current role with Dorset Council also delivering advice and grants for the Low Carbon Dorset Programme. In recent years he has also worked as an Associate Lecturer with the Open University on one of their Renewable Energy courses.
