WSX Enterprise works with EBP South to inspire young minds
The Education Business Partnership South (EBP South) provides opportunities for businesses to engage with young people and help inspire them about future careers.
WSX Enterprise is a natural fit for this as we are always keen to support young people in schools as they prepare for higher education, the workplace and even on to running their own businesses.
Peter Grant, CEO has supported this initiative regularly at schools across the South,
“I’m delighted to give up a few days of the year to help the students who can range in age from 15 – 18 and who are always a joy to work with! At WSX, we have such a diverse range of business advisers who are well-placed to help the youth of today think about their futures and help them build their confidence.”
The charity, which has for over 20 years linked schools and businesses to help young people understand more about their career options and to help bridge the skills gap, is looking for business volunteers to attend a range of events taking place in schools across Hampshire in 2022 and 2023.
The events, including Interview Ready Sessions, Business Speed Networking and Employer Interviews, allow businesses to engage with young people and inspire them about careers in their industry. As well as offering the opportunity to connect with the future workforce and give back to your local community, volunteering provides a chance for CPD, to develop presentation, communication, and leadership skills.
George and Hermione from Lenovo previously participated as volunteers at EBP South events in schools and said,
“We’ve both really enjoyed volunteering our time. It’s been very rewarding offering the students key advice for their future career journeys and we hope that they take away lifelong skills from the day that they can use in the future.”
EBP South also run a range of Career Inspiration events which businesses can exhibit to help strengthen their recruitment pipeline and inspire young people about jobs in their industry. BAE Systems Maritime sponsored Get Inspired Portsmouth and exhibited at the event. Charlotte Clarke, their Education Outreach Coordinator said
“BAE Systems was delighted to support EBP South’s Get Inspired Portsmouth event at Portsmouth Guildhall. It was wonderful seeing young people really get stuck in with the activities on offer, whether that was dressing up to take photos in our photobooth or having a go at docking down a Destroyer. Portsmouth is lucky to have such a talented pool of young people and we look forward to working with them more at future education outreach events.”
